official TW press release off reuters last week says nationwide upgraded to 5Mbps for free in Jan with NYC to 5Mbps in mid December. reconfirmed by dslreports
and also an 8Mbps tier for power users for more $ per month which likewise implies when sbc verizon fiber does roll around, TW will use the 8Mb tier as their last defense
you notice any speed difference kira ?

I spoke with my friend the engineer guy live a couple block away from me. He confirm RR did increase to 5mbits but you can't notice. RR is using not using the toshiba cable modem anymore because it can go up to 8mbits. The cheap RCA can go up to 5mbit only. Good news for me is our area already has fiber optic line. Can't wait for verizon to start fiber optic srevice in nyc. I rather pay for Up to 15 Mbps/2 Mbps* $49.95/mo verizon fiber optic service than stupid rr $59.99 a month
