The following article pertains to Dynamis only, although some scenarios are valid outside of Dynamis zones.
Volatile Enmity (VE) - enmity that depreciates over time
Cumulative Enmity (CE) - enimity that does not depreciate
Knowns
- emnity is lost when player takes damage (CE/VE)
- enmity is lost when an attack is absobed by a utsusemi (CE/VE)
- enmity is lost when a player dies
Type of hate
- Unclaimed (indirect) hate
- Claimed (direct) hate
Unclaimed hate:
This is most commonly known as /heal, /sit or linked mob hate, where the puller does not perform an action directly on the mob and agros. At this point the player is marked on its hate list.
Putting out some constants (do not take these numbers as absolute values in-game):
* Initial Hate: 200
* Sit/Heal Hate: 500
An example is when the puller pulls a statue in dynamis, and three mobs spawn from the statue. At this state, only the statue is considered claimed, while the other three mobs are chasing the puller with unclaimed, but linked, hate.
Scenario 1: Puller range attacks pulls a statue and runs back to the alliance.
Q: A BLM is resting in the path of the puller. Will the BLM take hate from the 3 Mobs?
A: Yes. The initial hate of the 3 mobs only have a value of 200 hate points. When 3 mobs detect the resting BLM, the mage scores a 500 therefore the 3 mobs proceed to maul the mage.
Q: Will the resting BLM take hate from the pulled statue?
A: Yes, in Dynamis and other zone-linked hate. The puller only scores 200+ on the pull. Resting still induces more hate.
Scenario 2: Puller range attacks pulls a statue then vokes the statue and runs back to the alliance.
Q: A BLM is resting in the path of the puller. Will the BLM take hate from the 3 Mobs?
A: Yes, same reason as in Scenario 1.
Q: Will the resting BLM take hate from the pulled statue?
A: Depends. Provoke is Volatile enmity and depreciates quickly. If the voke was done some time as the puller was approaching the BLM, the puller will have sustained more hate than the resting BLM and thus the mage will not take hate. On the otherhand, if the voke was made more than 30 seconds ago, hate from provoke would have depleted by the time the puller reached the BLM, therefore BLM will get hate from the statue.
Hate by Association:
Scenario 1:
- Puller pulls Statue (A)
- Statue spawns mobs (1,2,3)
> Puller has claimed hate Statue (A) and unclaimed/indirect hate with mobs (1-3)
> In this scenario Statue (A) is the parent, and (1,2,3) are the followers.
Scenario 2:
- Puller pulls Statue (A)
- Statue (A) spawns mobs (1,2,3)
- Statue (A) or (1,2,3) link to Statue (B)
- Statue (B) spawns mobs (4,5,6)
> Puller has claimed hate on Statue (A) and unclaimed/indirect hate with mobs (1-6) as well as Statue (B)
> Pulling Statue (B) off of the puller will not affect the status of mobs (4,5,6). They will continue to go after the puller.
Scenario 3:
- Puller pulls Statue (A)
- Statue (A) spawns mobs (1,2,3)
- Mage sleeps mobs (1,2,3)
> Puller has direct hate on statue (A)
> Puller has indirect hate on mobs (1,2,3)
> Mage has direct hate on mobs (1,2,3)
Scenario 3a: (assume Scenario 3 above)
- Mage dies
- Puller performs no actions on (1,2,3)
> Assuming there exists only the puller and the mage, if the mage were to die, mobs (1,2,3) will go after the puller no matter how distant he is from the mobs.
Scenario 3b: (assume Scenario 3 above)
- Assume there are 3 players on the field: Puller, Sleeper, Curer
- Curer cures Sleeper for 0HP
- Puller performs no actions on (1,2,3)
- Sleeper then dies
> Mobs (1,2,3) will proceed to pound on the Curer after the sleeper dies even though the player cured for 0HP. The cure for 0HP puts the curer on the direct hate list. !!Direct Hate > Indirect Hate!!
> After the curer dies, the mobs will proceed to attack the puller
How to help Sleepers:
Hate by Association is exactly what it means. Association. Use this to your advantage to gain hate on multiple mobs at once.
Scenario:
- Puller pulls Statue (A)
- Statue (A) spawns mobs (1,2,3)
- Sleeper sleeps (1,2,3)
Ways to gain Hate:
1 - Provoke/Flash each mob (1,2,3)
Pro: Huge direct hate application and will surely over take the sleeper's hate for a considerable amount of time
Con: Huge downtime for Flash/Provoke to be replenished
2 - Cure the Sleeper
Pro: Keeps your sleeper in Good Health (lol). Can gain a decent amount of hate depending on the cure value used.
Con: Not a strong grap of hate.
3 - Get on the hate list and JA
> Cure the sleeper even if it's 0HP. This will place the player on the all the mobs which the sleeper has slept.
> Use a high enmity JA (Sentiel, Warcry)
Pro: High spike enmity will gain hate of all mobs which the sleeper had hate on.
Con: JAs are Volatile Enmity and depreciate quickly. Timing of the JA must be considered carefully so that the player maintains hate higher than the sleeper before the mobs are awaken.
