SE Latest Banning: Handling Misconduct (Jan. 22)

#1 Post by Kirakun »

In November 2008, we discovered an issue that allowed players to create multiple items for certain treasures and rewards in areas such as Salvage and Assault by exploiting the game system.

The issue was fixed during emergency maintenance on November 26, 2008. However, we discovered that some players had already exploited the issue and used it to gain additional items before it was addressed. We then investigated more than a year's worth of logs throughout all areas.

As a result of the investigation, approximately 400 players were temporarily suspended based on the evidence gathered. Approximately 550 players who committed more serious misconduct had their accounts banned.

We are working hard to ensure that these kinds of issues do not occur again in FINAL FANTASY XI. However, if you discover any problems with the game system, please submit a GM call or fill out the feedback e-mail form to report the problems to us, instead of exploiting or spreading the issue.

We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Right or Wrong to ban on something that should have been tested before release to the public?

LoL, this is a pretty serious issue.. to ban after a fix.

whoever dupe and didnt see this coming is blind

serve them right for exploiting

be it SE's fault or not, exploiting is your own fault

its SE game, and they can ban, and nothing you can do yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

i said this in BG and it seem to work right

people who duped are no longer GOOD people yo. wtf your thinking man.

Before you guys(banned personnel) ask for sympathies, ask your self this:
1. I knew about the dupe. Did I gotta stop/or report to SE? NO!
2. I just wanna dupe till i get something, wait nvm am i really going to stop? NO!
3. Fuck it SE didnt fix, and no one reported either. I shouldnt stop too!
4. Fuck i got banned? Why am i not getting ANOTHER chance? this is only my 781236782357612 time duping for 1 year!

I AM SURE PEOPLE WHO GOT BANNED DIDNT STOP AT DUPING ONCE YO. You had your chances but u didnt take it. You chose to "STEAL" 1527635765751 times from poroggo madame and she arent happy.

Yes here you go

They retrace the logs back ONE YEAR to ban people.
Why can't they do that for other things that are a bit more important lol

This is a day that shall live in infamy.. so many people gone now... and it sucks because following Minidragon was one of my hobbies, lol.

I think that the people QQing need to realize that they did what they did and are now paying for it. They abused an exploit and never reported it to SE yet now complain because they got banned?

I seriously doubt the perma bans were for people who only did it a few times.

I think that if the bannings had justification, such as a large amount of abuse or previous GM incidents, they were ok regardless of whether it should have been fixed before reaching the public. The problem is, I remember reading that this had been going on for over a year. Some of the players knew about the issue (I didn't know until they fixed it) but chose to use the exploit instead of reporting it because of what the exploit was doing for them. SE can't fix what they don't know about.
