...this post is to help out fellow players with this quest enjoy...


There is 1 prerequisite and 4 side quests to get your Knife:

1 Prerequisite
- Must have level 30 fishing skill to recieve this quest.
- There is a way to bypass this will be explained at the end of post.

4 Side Quests

#1 Under the sea - Go to Selbina and talk to Yaya, then Jimaida, then Oswold. He tells you about a fish that swallowed a ring and its your job to catch it. Fish anywhere in Selbina with lugworms as bait (can be bought cheaply by the NPC galka to the far right of the pier) & use a Composite Fishing Rod and eventually you'll catch a Fat Greedie rare/ex fish (took me about 20 tries). Take it to Zaldon (fishermans guild) and he'll gut the fish and give you the ring. Return it to Oswold for your reward.


#2 The Sand Charm - Speak to Blandine in Mhaura. Then speak to Grimr and Zexu. Finally go to the goldsmithing guild salesroom in Mhaura and speak to Celestina. Ride the ferry from any directions and hope for Pirates. You need to get a rare/ex item dropped by the bones named: sand charm. Return it to Celestina and recieve a map of B. Oubliette. This part might take the longest to do, since yo have to rely on a random chance Pirates will be on the ship so... here's some help.

***secret**** To tell whether your boat will have pirates is this: When your toon 1st zones in the cargo room once the boat has left, if you can Instantly Tab (1-2 sec.) on either of the 2 doors that lead out from cargo room, that means pirates are coming - if you Can Not instantly tab on either door that means no Pirates. ***Fisherman's Secret - Pirates are predetermined when the boat leaves the towns, they are not random during the ride. This is why there is a difference in the Doors loading and being able to Tab on them.


#3 The Gift - Oswold asks you to find him a Danceshroom. You can get them from Crawlers Nest or buy them from AH, but there are hardly any on the AH.


#4 The Real Gift - Oswold asks for a shall shell. They can be dropped buy pugs or bought in AH (I got mine killing some pugs in Valkurn Dunes). He gives you a Glass Fiber Fishing Rod for your trouble.



Once these quests are completed you can now have access to the Last Quest Inside the Belly.

This is the painful part. Start collecting Bhefhel Marlin (fish) These can be collected two ways:
1) Buy from Auction House 9-10k per fish (these do NOT stack)
2) You can fish for these on the Ferry if you have 61+ fishing skill using Sliced Blue Tail / Composite, Lu Shang's Fishing, Mithran, Single Hook Fishing. This fish can possible break any of those rods. Bhefhel Marlin are lvl 46-61 fish to catch.
Collect as many as you can!!! WHY?

Take fishes to Zaldon in Selbina, and he will gut them out one by one, and you have to pray one of those fishes has a Rare/Ex item: Pirate's Chart It can take about 40-60 fishes to get this item, this is all by luck or randomness. I got item after about 40 fishy's.

--===SKIP===--- if you don't want to know about Brigand's Chart

Zaldon can also gut out a Brigand's chart (used at Khoonta Beach in Bubu Peninsula). But this is NOT for the Knife, if you want to know how to use this item read this or skip: Take Item too ??? in Buru Penn. - Khoonta Beach, this is a lvl 20 cap (solo). A NPC will appear and tell you to fish, you will either fish up chests that you can open for rewards or reg monsters. Any fishing rod or bait is needed for this quest.


Once you get Pirate's Chart then you can use that for the pop BCNM fight.


BCNM Fight

Level 20 BCNM fight, x3 members only.

Battle set up:

- Best done with x3 Summoners.
- Have Astral Flow Ready for all SMN's
- Do not summon Avatars until lvl cap is on. Other wise if you do summon before hand, they will disappear.
- Bring any Fishing Rod w/ any bait (you can fish while you EDIT: not needed but recommended
- NO items need (yag. drinks, sweets, ie.), and you can fight naked if you want.


Starting:

- Trade Pirate's Chart to the ??? in the middle of the Whitebone Beach.
- A Taru NPC will appear, your other members won't be able to move until you are done with mini CS.
- NPC will tell you to fish, once you are able to fish, everyone will be able to summon avatars, so summon them all out NOW! (most go with Ramuh or Shiva)
Edit: - No need to fish while waiting for the NM's to pop, they will pop automatically after a few seconds.
- But, if you want to fish, you will be able to pull up rare/ex snares that you can use on the 3 NM's to lower their ATK (it's really unnessary to use them, but you can fish until NM's pop)
- When you see the NPC die, get rdy for the x3 NM's (Shagin, Crab, Sea Monk)
- When they appear, they will attack the fisher (quest-starter) first.
- Tell everyone to use Astral Flow Immediatly! And use their Special Blood Pact. (Diamond Dust, ie.)
- When all the Astral Flows go off and hopefully all of the NM's die. A chest will pop up on the beach, open it and PRAY the knife is one of the items found.

edit: I'm am unsure of other ways of battling this BCNM besides having x2 SMNS & x1 PLD. If anyone has done it differently, please comment. ^^


I'm 0/1 on this knife droping, and current trading more fish to get Pirate's Chart again. Yes, it's repeatable! Someone else I know is 0/5 on drop... come on SE!!!!!!

I'm 0/1 on Brigand's Chart Quest, I pulled up a damn Monster the first cast of my rod and was fighing hand-to-hand because I totally forgot it was a lvl 20 cap solo fight.



=======OK HERE'S A WAY TO BYPASS ALMOST EVERYTHING========

Get a friend that has completed the quest up to the part where you start trading Bhefhel Marlins to be gutted for Pirates Chart.
Just buy the fish for him and have him trade them for you, if he get's the Rare/Ex Pirate's Chart, have him do the BCNM fight or do it with him if you have a lvl 20 SMN. If the Knife drops, he can give it to you because it's only Rare. But make sure it's a GOOD friend.
