BLM Gear Vs. God/HNM

When I first started preparing for sky raids, I asked Nippler what stats were best to look for in gear vs gods and HNM's. For my exp PT's i had gone for as much +elemental magic as i could to reduce missed spells. However Nippler told me that versus gods it is better to have magic Atk bonus, and lots of Int. Is this how you other BLM's set up?

the stats on the gear i use to nuke are:
+33int, +17elemental, +13 magic atk, and 15% acc/dmg from staves

the only other option i can see would be go back to lots of elemental magic with less magic atk.

what do you guys think?

Elemental Magic and +INT are very much related. They both reduce resistance as your value go up. Once your numbers break the mobs number, the excess is then added as 'extra' damage, about one point more dmg per excess point.

Every stat has a related stat to go with it. (ie) INT and Elemental Magic, CHR and Enmity, STR and Attack, AGI and Evasion, etc... For blm, their added constant is based on Magic Attack. This is the factor that plays outside the equation. Magic Attack is the direct damage boost. Although it isn't noticable, they are more like dmg points added to the calculated "resisted/non-resisted" damage value.

As for Gods, they have very high resistance to magic. (Normally a thunder3 on genbu I deal about 50-100 dmg, but occassionally I could deal 300) [I have about +45-51INT] So if you are looking to deal "non-resisted" damage to gods, get more INT/Elemental Magic skill, but that would mean you would need to bomb less for tanks to keep hate. If you want to deal a little more "resisted" damage, increase Magic Attack.

My style of gameplay is very much about control. I bomb based on the amount of hate I see that the tank is holding. In every game once things get hasty, it will become a mess w.

BTW.. Yuka, are you still playing FF? @@?

My opinion of a BLM's job in sky is only as a secondary dmg dealer. the main role is stunning. I can do large dmg, but that endangers the other mages and since the mob may turn and AOE everyone. I think it is very poor play if even 1 of the god's nukes go off.
