Diablos Lv.40 BC Fight!
Posted: Sun 2004 Dec 05 15:03 EST
I recently toppled this beast with a PLD, NIN, DRK, RNG, BRD, and myself the WHM. Overall I'd say hes not too bad, and heres the strategy for knocking this guy down.
Party Placement and preparing for Nightmare
The most important thing you should know about the Diablos BC is that when Diablos reachs 50% health, the floor tiles the arena consists of start to fall away. At the exact moment the tiles fall away, Diablos will also uses Nightmare which sleeps everyone on the battlefield along with inflicting a nasty Bio attack that nearly killed me and the BRD, even when we had full health. Poison and his Bio will not wake you. You just have to wait til someone wakes who can cast Cure or Curaga to wake everyone else up. Also, make sure the WHM Erases him/herself and any other mage on the field. Now, as soon as your sleeped, the floor will drop away in many areas which can drop you on to several IT Diremites waiting to eat you for dinner, so lemme show ya where you should stand.

"#" is also where Diablos spawns on the BC, and "L" is the ledge where you either get sucked in or will fall onto the battlefield.
This is what the battlefield and placement should generally look like

General Party Conduct
This battle, in my opinion, wasn't as nearly as hard as any of the Promyvion mega bosses. Diablos has a high Attack rating, very high attack speed, but very low accuracy. So, keep Diablos Paralyzed, Slowed, and your NIN tank Hasted if you have one, but a PLD could probably take this (or trade aggro between the two for best results). Melee and mages should generally bring the same types of food and drink you would bring for a Promyvion mega-boss fight, except make sure that everyone brings and uses Poition Potions throughout the battle so Diablos normal sleep attacks don't stick. Melee have good DEF or ATK food, Hi-Potions, Icarus Wings, etc. Mages bring Yagudo Drinks, Hi-Ethers, etc. Its especially important for mages to bring MP recovery medecine since healing on the battlefield isn't recommened (hard to get up from healing if the floor falls out beneath you! /panic). This is all I can think of now, good luck, and get cracking on your other CoP Missions!
