Leveling Spots
Leveling Spots
Just wanted to start a guide to leveling outside of leves. A lot of people, on other forums, have complained about the lack of mobs to grind off of. The problem isn't that there is a lack of mobs, it's really just a matter of finding the good grinding spots. So I'm going to list some solid spots I've found here and the levels to XP there. Feel free to contribute any spots you have found, how many ppl level'd there, and what mobs you were doing. Also feel free to correct/update any of the suggestions that i've made (that includes how many ppl in party).

Re: Leveling Spots
I've only been following a little since vie been gone, but isn't Squeenix supposed to be changing or adding more spawning spots?

lvl 75 BLM (AF2 2/5), 70 SMN (AF2 1/5), 51 WAR, 40 NIN, 37 WHM, 37 RDM, 33 BST
Rank 10 Windy, 10 Sandy
Woodworking 74+2 Cooking 60 Smithing 51
Re: Leveling Spots
Duo'd in Nawawawawa Mines last night with Neko on Cellar Puks. (r25 + r20?). Got about 11kSP in roughly over an hour or so. Pretty nice and relaxing, mobs last for about 30-45sec. Not sure how feasible it would be when more hard hitters are in the parties since mage get shafted big time when mobs melt lol. Overall pretty good for low manning. The puks are roughly level(rank) 24-25.
They were hitting me for about 80-130 dmg, 150-200 on Backflip. They hit Neko for about 150-230 dmg, and 350-550 on Backflip. (gg level diff modifiers)
[Edit: 11/05/2010]
Went around 10-12K/hr last night at the same spot with 4 people.
24pug Taroo Taroo
22pug Neko
20pug Mephxxxxxxx
25con/thm Kira (got 11K on thm, 8K on con in 1.5h)
Mobs avg about 50-100SP and took about 10secs to kill.
Cellar Puks, Balloons, Will-o-Wisps.
Skeletons are doable, but not worth the MP/time:SP ratio
SP is completely random but to throw in an observation:
- SP might be linked to a particular mob on a per individual basis. (random!!!)
If this is the case, might be simpler to kill mobs that con yellow/orange to your level in a group for fast kills. Comparable to getting 400-500SP vs a +20lvl mob in a huge group at a slower kill rate. (maybe..)

Re: Leveling Spots
Did Pteroc Matrons (Puks) in Coerthas south of Dragonhead last night. According to YG they were lv35-39. Group was 26THM, 24PUG, 25PUG. Was around 5-5.5k/30min. (Tried a lv40-43 Condor that conned blue.. was doing fine til the last 10% when it started to hit Neko for 800dmg per TP move - we disbanded after that since it was 1am anyway)
Seems the lowman (3-6) players mob level sweet spot is about +10-15 levels higher. Well, for non-glad parties. Glads prefer mobs that last a lot longer since a majority of their points come from tanking actions. These mobs don't require a high defense tank and melees take a decent amount of damage for a balanced mage:melee SP.
I chose Puks due to that they are really soft and low on HP and don't hit super hard except for their TP moves. SP gain per puk ranged from 50-100 on the low end up to about 150-350 on the high end for about 15 seconds of battle. But I prefer to look at the overall SP/hr rate rather than per mob since there is an occasional shit mob that gives nothing.
Think with an extra healer or 2, we can push the mob range up to 15-20 levels. Let me know when you guys are available to try XD

I noticed that too on some puks i would only get SP from 1 attack the whole fight, then on another same puk I can get SP from 6-7 moves I do.

Re: Leveling Spots
Yea, that's why I prefer fast battles as opposed to those 15man group fighting 1 mob for 5mins. Could be 5mins of getting 0 SP.

Re: Leveling Spots
3-manned Black Efts last night at 9-Ivies.
28 Con
27 Pug
26 Lnc
Very easily tanked with Firm Conviction and easy to for melees to avoid taking damage. Will hit up Tam-Tara and see how feasible the camp is there. SP is good, but not necessarily fast. Hoping the patch next Thursday will allow players to target whichever mob they like for a decent/consistent SP gain.
