Release Information (Palamecia)

#1 Post by RedIce »

We are going to Palamecia.

If you want to reserve your name in OB, just create the character with the name you want at retail and it'll be reserved for a "period of time". How long it is saved isn't said, but I'd assume a few weeks.

If you installed Open Beta Client, you need to uninstall the OB client before you install the retail client.

Your character's look can be saved through the creation process. This information is saved in "My Documents" in windows. This information will not be deleted when you uninstall the OB client.

Official CE release is 18:00 PDT (21:00 EDT) September 21.

Regarding in game items:
You must have the codes and prerequisites met BEFORE you create your character. Applying codes will not give in game items to already created characters.

Items regarding FF11 terms you need to make sure that your FF11 account is linked to the same SE ID as your FF14. Keep in mind that the SE ID site has been updated and if you haven't set regional information then you will need to relink your FF11 IDs too.

https://secure.square-enix.com/account/ is for the account manager.

Final Fantasy XIV, The Lodestone http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com will launch 8:00 PDT (11:00 EDT) Sept 21. Pretty sure this is that players' site.

Both Kira and I are starting in Gridania. If you are starting in Limsia or Ul'dah, we will need to coordinate meeting up for a Linkshell invite.

Since initially getting a linkshell will be fairly high priority for many and not everyone will know their way around at first, we will set up meeting areas.

Gridania:
The area you first start out is the Guildleve area.
The chocobo stables in Gridania.
The last area is Camp Bentbranch, which is the first leve camp.

Ul'dah:
The area you first start out is the Guildleve area.
The chocobo stables in Ul'dah.
The last area is Camp Black Brush, which is the first leve camp.

Limsia:
The area you first start out is the Guildleve area.
The chocobo stables in Limsia.
The last area is Camp Bearded Rock, which is the first leve camp.

So in short, leve area, chocobo stables, or first leve camp.

Please keep in mind that we cannot teleport to every city every time someone creates a new character when this goes live. Please be patient if you do not start in Gridania.

Alternatively you can come to Gridania to get the crystal there.

There is one primary path to Gridania regardless if you are from Limsia or Ul'dah. The route from Limsia passes Ul'dah.

From Limsia:
Take the ferry docks from the lower decks at the far west of the city.
After you take the boat to Thanalan (Ul'dah's region) stay on the road and head east. You will eventually past north of Ul'dah. Here you can take the south road and get the crystal there.

From Ul'dah:
Take the north road towards Camp Black Brush and then head east along the road.
Eventually this road will take you to The Black Shroud (Gridania's region)

Once in The Black Shroud, head north along the road until you reach Camp Bentbranch. You will be able to see Gridania on the map by then.

If you stay on the road on the map, you will not encounter much, if any, aggro. The only place you may have to dodge aggro is east of Camp Black Brush. The antlings aggro and will one shot you.

This is all in terms of open beta. There may be new forms of travel come release that make this trip easier and/or faster. There may be new mobs along the way so keep aware as well.

If for whatever reason you miss our first run through the cities, please consider running to the cities to get your teleport crystals. You will most likely need to make the trip at some point, so might as well get a linkshell out of it as well.
