FFXI locks up when talking to TAU NPCs

This has just started happening to me but it doesn't happen every time. It happens the most when I talk to Ugrihd or Sanction NPC. I can still see text and chat, and move the camera, but I can not move myself. Sometimes after a few mins, they will start talking to me.

However, if they don't, I force d/c. But that doesn't work either because game locks up entirely except for the music.

Is anyone else having this problem or do I have to do a file check?

I'd probably say it's the general WG lag issue. Or PS2 HDD fragmentation o.o?

I never used to have this problem before. It started about a month or so ago, not sure cause I try to stay away from wg.

I am leaning towards PS2 issues though, but wanted to see if anyone else had the problem before I did a file check.

Or my PS2 is slowly dying.
