Yea it isn't end game but seriously there's not much to do. Pick up leves, grind, do the one time missions? lol

At least in 11 you kind of felt you were going places lol. Noob it up in the dunes and get your SJ (Progress). Noob it up again or just keep goin as a bigger noob lol. The epic run to jeuno (Progress). Cutting your wrists getting a chocobo (Progress). Wiping to banshees. Getting 3 keys for airship to.. uh goblin smithy land (Progress). Dying to said smithies. Getting advanced jobs (Progress). Noobing it up v3. Cutting wrists farming yag necklaces for utsusemi. Spamming BCNM40 for erase or utsusemi. Epic (read annoying as fuck) climb up dekfult tower for a key (Progress). Marathon EXPLORING the world for airship pass (Progress). and now we're what.. maybe 40? lol. As we hit 50s we're doing stupid limit break (Progress) rank 6 battle in xarc which was actually pretty damn cool the first time lol. And anything else could be considered encroaching on "end game". Yea yea I know that kazham wasn't there before rotz.. but it all couldn't have been missing when the game was released. What does 14 have? Leves... lol

tl;dr: content pls, progress pls.

Yep, <insert thumbs up>
There's been no feeling of any progress in this game so far. Only "RANK UP!" <insert FF battle-win tune>

In other note, there's a bug with the stamina bar when you pump macros for your abilities/spells then try to use the hotbar for something plain like a simple attack zzzz. Occasionally you are locked from using any actions until the stamina bar fully restores itself even if the action takes only 10% stamina... <- suppose to happen? If it is, its fking dumb. If not, fking dumb bug.

Another note, you can max out skill points on a mob that resets... as long as the mob stays claimed/red-named. Can't say it's very efficient if you want level exp, but definitely nice if you want some lazy skill ups. All you need is to find a point on the terrain where mobs like to reset (read: run back) and gain some hp and runs back to poke you. You won't get hit often as the mob will have a greater tendency to reset lol. Kill when you want to cash in your points.

This should change to the bitch and moan thread lol.

I like the idea of reactionary abilities such as phalanx. I don't like that it is in a non twitch engine.

Let's lay some ground first. A twitch, as you may know, is a rather fast reactionary type movement. So, a twitch engine would be a game engine that uses these fast reactionary movements, think FPS games or a few other PvP MMOs. FF11 and FF14 are not twitch games.

14 tries to kind of be a twitch game with its reactionary style abilities such as phalanx and haymaker. After performing a block, you have a small window in which you can use the phalanx ability. This is a type of twitch mechanic. If you're doing something else with a long animation.. oh well you're SOL.

My big issue with this is how the game queues up stuff. In order to really "spam" abilities, you more or less have to queue them. Be it because of the way the engine was programmed or just terrible server lag..I think some of both..even if you hit your ability right after the animation of the previous one ends, it still won't start immediately after. So on a job like gladiator with fairly long abilities, you can end up being at full stam a whole fight if you're not attempting to spam things. The guard animation is very long.

Now on to more of my complaints about why this isn't working. Not going to take the very WEIRD hate mechanics in this game. (Drak and I were duoing some last night.. he aggroed a chigoe and didn't engage til it was virtually dead..but held hate the whole time while I beat on it..seriously wtf) Phalanx itself is a pretty damn good dps ability. It takes very little TP (250) and does very good damage with no stam bar use and fast recast time. Its only real limitation is blocking, since you have to block in order to use it. When soloing, you can literally hit guard, then just spam phalanx as long as you have the tp and end up killing the mob really quickly. It isn't worth using other 1k TP moves because of how efficient phalanx is. On top of the great damage:tp:stam it is supposed to be, what I assume, a primary hate tool. Considering provoke uses half a stam bar and doesn't really seem to give a decent amount of hate. It might work similarly to taunt in wow though..testing would most likely be required to see, but if it does work like wow's taunt then it's fairly useless for additive hate.

So in order to build hate, you have to keep hate. Once you lose it, if you can't get it back, you're just a crappy DD. Now, adding in the wack ass hate mechanics, it's really difficult to solidify hate. Idealy you'd like to engage, get a block off and pop a phalanx.. which really isn't much hate at all and there doesn't seem to be an initial hate bonus like there was in 11.. almost seems the opposite. So then you burn your provoke once you lose hate, guard falls, you put it back up and you're out of stam and then it runs off again lol.

I did notice though that any action on the mob would pull a lot more hate than cures.

tl;dr: Glad mechanics don't work well with DDs

I continuously get pummeled curing in leves zzz

And, yea I agree with the wierd hate allocation in this game.

Example:
Shin and I are duoing:
1. Shin goes afk for a short bit
2. I pull a mob and fight it relatively far away from him
3. Drop the mob to about 50%
4. Run the mob close to shin while still afk
5. Mob starts beating the crap out of Shin like they got beef and ignores me

its ok guys!

its almost the exact same problem when 11 came out

but yes this is 14 now, and they should have learnt lesson from 11 but i think they rushed 14 for release and missed out alot of stuffs

like i expected before, we are the real "beta testers"

give it a few months or at least till PS3 release in march and it should kick off from there +_+

11 took 1 fucking year to evolve @rise of the zilart

1st expansion will change things? :D :D

FF11 was SE's first MMO. Using time to flesh things out because it was a learning curve can be understandable. But to do it a second time coming from a large company is unheard of.

I played 11 for oh.. 7years? I don't plan on playing 14 for even more than 1/2 of that time. To spend a whole year waiting for a finished product is not my cup of tea. Making consumers wait a whole year to improve (rephrase: finish) their 2nd gen product is nothing but a waste of time. Here's the ice cream cone. Pay full price now. Come back when I finish making the actual ice cream. I paid 80bucks for an unfinished product, nearly 95% identical to the free open beta. Not happy about at what so ever. I need to see a major improvement within the next 2months else my subscription won't be lasting that long.

If it was only an AH that's missing -- I'm cool with that. Economy is not a focal point of the game. This is an MMORPG. Keyword being multiplayer. The problem I'm having here is that the game feels like it's mostly single player with no feeling of reward from grouping up. The normal "fun" of leveling/ranking w/e you wanna call it; to obtain abilities is there, but what else..? Aside from the people within our group, how many of us has had interaction newer people of the community? Very little from what I've noticed running around the game. This feels more like an MMO-less RPG, where every real player is just an NPC we pass as we go out to do our own thing. It doesn't have that communal feel. I would like to see SE have the game gear it more towards multiplayer while keeping the current solo-ability intact.

tl;dr: Don't release half-assed products. Multiplayer should be multiplayer.

I'm never on MSN during the day time as I'm usually at work, so I, thankfully, don't receive such entities. By the time I return to my humble abode, this subset of people are normally regenerating serotonin :hg:
