New Router: Am I Screwed ?

#1 Post by Aeges »

Ok, so Today, after My Old router died , turning 4 years old, I got a new one from my Cable Company ( Time Warner). Its all modern and the likes, before my Modem and Wireless router were seperate, now there all in one.

I just log on to FFXI now after work, and guess what. R0 to log in, and I get booted after 3 mins. I dont even get a moment of connectivity, its just right away, in to r0 and kicked.

Before, I got around this by connected a better router to the old router, and liking my computer in that one. Before it worked great, turned a once every 2 hour Lag, in to a maybe once or thrice a week.

What am I to do ?

New Router: Orion AB 3000

have to set your router to open port for FF?
Check your router settings on port forwarding and firewall.

The new Linksys routers have firewalls built in, make sure you disable that. Also, you may need to free a port on the main router that conects to your 2ndary router. Chances are the 2nd router is filtering data that's coming to/from the first router.
