Graphic card

I want to make a new desktop but I'm a little... yea no comment... regarding desktop's and what not. Hopefully Kenny reads this..

I was reading cnet reviews about graphic cards and they recommended the ATI Radeon X800 XL. So I was wondering what is everyone's take. You help me make ging desktop so I can play graphics, ff and WoW and do all my homework stuff too and I can get started on my FF graphicing >_______< Haz!!! HELP! :)

I don't think the X800 series is worth the money. It's slightly faster than the Radeon 9800pro (one im using) with the exception that it has better cooling. Radeon9800 wasn't built with the best cooling (just plain crap heatsink with a fan on top). There was an X series that was identical to the 9800 with better cooling with the same speed.

My suggestion is to save the few hundered bucks if you can and buy an older model, but that's my take...

I'm still a big fan of NVidia, but I can't take the dual-PCI slot videocards. ATI graphics options interface sux. Not as configurable as Nvidia's drivers -_-

Like I don't even know if I want to make my own desktop or buy one. I can't seem to find one I really like... except the mac's but only b/c I like their look ww... sucks is I'd have to rebuy or find all my games again to play on mac -________-

I'd get nvidia if I can find a nice one... like the laptop kenny showed me (Dell XPS2) uses the 6800 ultra and I getting that but I read about the 7800 GTX that just came out. A store in town was selling for 769.95 and they sold out. That one is already 100 dollars cheaper than 6800 ultra. *sigh* What to do what to do....

Ya 9800Pro, mine is the 256MB one tho ^^;

But nowadays the Video card are more powerful than PC's. PC's are now the bottlenecks for graphics intense games.

I can't find the 256MB one on futureshop site... maybe I check bestbuy ww.

Well other than Vid Card I will need to look at.... (Fill in blank here)

the x850 is a sick card, lap (so is the GeForce 6800 Ultra). neither is cheap, tho.

how much are you looking to spend?

what sucks is the new gefore 7XXX one was cheaper than buying the 6800 -____- and now cannot find in edmonton... *dies*
I will not spend more than 500 canadian for graphic card...
and no more than 3k on desktop...
now to think about what to do... buy preset and just change graphic? or find a way to build from scratch?

I love you PC GURU!!! SAVE ME :(
