how to improve my nuke...
how to improve my nuke...
ok.. i always nuke for less than 100 dmg with Thunder III ..
I have +5x Int based on a 65 Int.
I just wonder i nuke so little.. should I add + MAB gear or + Elemental Skill gear ? i dont think i can get more +Int gear... Maybe I can get the RSE feet that has +3 Int , sacrificing +5Mnd...
So what you guys suggest?
btw i just bought a Wizard's Earring. that gives me +5 Elemental Skills with BLM sub,.. i hope its worth it.
o yeah, i wonder.. i nuke so little coz i have low int or coz my nuke is partialy resisted?

Ok here goes: =)
1. Elemental Magic Skill:
The more Elemental Magic Skill you have, the less reisistant the nukes will be (just like Enfeebling Skill)
2. Magic Attack+
Think of this like as like additional damage to capped damage. (ie) You nuke some Sarutabaruta weak Rabbit for a max of 100 using Thunder1. Equip Magic Attack+ Earring and try again. Your damage will be 100+(some % extra).
3. INT Gear
Like how 2STR gives 1Atk, INT is somewhat similar. In the case of SE's damage formula, INT is used in this manner: Your-INT minus Mob's-INT. That extra, assuming it is positive value, is used and recalculated into Magic ATK+.
So now the 3 factors have been laid out... RDM nukes are not as powerful as BLM nukes because RDM don't have as many Magic ATK+ Ability as BLM does, but it is possible to deal close same amount of damage as they do.
First Item is to make sure that you don't get resisted, so Elemental Magic Skill is a useful addition. Similar to melee, you want more Attack gear so that you break that barrier to make a /check of mob from Hi-Defense to non-hi-defense or low-defense.
Next, apply Magic Attack+. Assuming your magic won't get resisted, you will want to increase your output. Use Magic Attack+ gear and the corresponding Elemental Staff.
When nuking you will want as much INT gear on as possible w/o sacrificing too much Elem. Skill gear unless you know you won't be resisted.
You also need to consider the type of mobs you are casting on. Melee types with low INT and low Magic Defense will be weak to nukes. Mobs like the RDM type Weapons (Infernal Weapon) will be more resistant coz they carry the RDM trait of Magic Defense+. Same for WHM mobs, BLM mobs, etc.
Mage = weak to melee attacks, strong to magic.
Melee = weak to magic attacks

I think if you nuke for 50 with thunder 3 that could safely be called a resist.
Elemental torque, the wizards earring, elemental earring if you're really desperate, whichever rdm af gives + skill, druids slops, those windy only gloves with + 7 ele skill in regions under nations control is all the skill gear rdm has access to off the top of my head.
Leaves room for moldy earring, int rings, the rdm feet af 2(?) with magic attack, rse rope with + 4 INT (?). HQ staves if you don't have them are your best friend.

On IT mobs where you are seeing a majority of your nukes resisted, I would start piling on the +elemental skill as much as you can. You may even want to continue using Ice/Aquillo's Staff instead of the corresponding elemental to the nuke you are casting because that +10 skill is hard to beat.
Once you start seeing less resists, or none at all (is that possible on IT mobs with RDM C skill?), I would slowly replace pieces of your elemental magic skill gear with Mag ATK and INT gear.
To add onto the gear Mandos suggested, I would recommend the Elite Beret as well.

no wonder the damn HQ Thunder Staff is 4mil now <.<Sygus wrote:Simple Dc. Get a bard to come along with you and cast the appropriate threnody. You'll never get resisted.
Hq staves do give you an extra 5% damage bonus and 5% less resist.
