MNK/NIN Solo Uninvited Guests

#1 Post by Kazekuro »

This is pretty much the same exact post I put up on Knights of Equilibrium. (Dark and Myrddine's Linkshell ^^b)

Recently I had heard that MNK/NIN could solo this Uncapped BCNM style quest, but I was skeptical. So I decided to head out to Riverne Site B, and waited a good hour or two before someone showed up to go through the unstable displacement. Next time I do this I'll have to get some help getting a Giant Scale or something. Turns out Monk isn't really good soloing Pyrodrakes fyi. lol

This video I did to show as proof that someone can actually solo this BCNM as MNK/NIN, as well as just to say, "Hey, this is awesome, I can actually make a video of stuff I'm doing in game now!"

I used Fraps, and converted it to a Windows Media 9 format using VirtualDub. That took it from about 200mb AVI down to 65mb AVI. ^^;

Anyways, enjoy guys and gals. :D

MNK gears are far more versitle than a NIN's IMO. With the correct setup, a MNK can have 300+ Evasion skill (with merits of course) and there are a vast amount of evasion and -dmg gear.

Good stuff you got there Kaze ;)

Aside of getting my butt kicked while waiting for the Mammet to go DRG mode, I think I did ok in that fight.

Yeah, I agree Monk has alot of versatility to it. One of the odd things I found out recently is Monk can get more in defensive stats than in offensive stats. For example, a Monk with capped guard, can get about +68 Guard skill from equipment. So 269+68 = 337. Albeit not alot of Monks have capped guard skill, nor do alot of Monks wish to spend most of their time online just sitting there skilling guard. I do alot of that skilling up junk myself, you might see me from time to time toiling away in The Boyahda Tree. Lol. . .

But yeah, I agree Monk can get alot of good equip to help boost it in many respects. Evasion, Guard, Parry (though not much) all are boostable to a certain extent with Monk, but Parry is probably the least worried about for Monk, considering we don't use Staff and Club for more than Chi-Blast, or skilling up. Though some staves are useful for screwing around with a mage sub job while skilling up or something.

Guard doesn't proc all that much like Kira pointed out. I did a couple fights against Mourioche in the Tree and came up with about 21 hits taken, and 7 of those guarded as an average a while back. This was with my guard skill near the level it should have been while fighting Mourioche, as well as wearing like +34 guard skill. lol

o_@ If Monk and Ninja were to get something that procs as much as Aegis, SE would be really quick to nerf it I think.

If anyone is interested in my guard data though, I got a little page that I keep track of my guard skill ups on.

Anyways, thank you everyone. I appreciate the positive feedback. ^-^b
