PM3: (Promvion-Dem) Information

#1 Post by Caduceus »

Not long ago I beat Promyvion-Dem with an alliance of 18 people. The basic party setup for each group was WAR, RNG, WHM, BLM, SMN, and NIN. As a basic note about Promyvion, all jobs are capped at 30, and lose experience based on having a lv.30 job.

Basic Strategy in Promyvion
Combat should always be avoided on all of Promyvion's four floors. Aggro and links on the third and fourth floor can prove extremely deadly. Combat is only nessecary when jumping up a floor. Memory Receptacles, large greenish orbs, must be destroyed in order to open a "memory stream" that will take you up a floor. For more information about Memory Receptacles, see combat strategy below. Sneak and Invisible will be seen through by monsters, so, the party or alliance must always move around enemies to avoid aggro.

Floor One:
On the first floor the mobs con (Easy prey) to (Tough), and will pose little threat to the party. In this first floor, feel free to get accustomed to the mobs and feel of Promyvion. All types of items can drop on this floor, including Recollections of Pain from Gorgers.

Floor Two:
Mobs here take a jump up in strength to (Tough) through (Incredibly Tough). Avoid aggro here if at all possible. Make sure when teleporting up a floor, that you do so as a group and do not split up. They're two different third floors.

Floor Three:
They're two different floors on the third level of Promyvion, but here all the mobs will be (Incredibly Tough)+. Third Floor A (I'll call it) is like a large circle with two memory receptacles, and has no "Memory Flux." (Memory fluxes are like locked doors in Promyvion, however, I've no idea what purpose they serve). The other section of the third level has a memory flux, which is one of its only distinguishing features. Weepers on this floor can cast an attack that causes AoE Blind and Silence, which is way everyone is encouraged to bring a stack of Echo Drops.

Floor Four:
This is the last floor of Promyvion, where all mobs are still IT+. You can ignore all mobs here, including memory receptacles, and look for the tall tower-like buillding. In this case called the (Spire of Dem). Enter into the spire, and rest before the boss.

Combat Strategies
Memory Receptacle Battles
In an ideal run, these are the only things you should be fighting along with strays. Memory Receptacles (hereafter refered to as MRs) float above inactive teleport platforms and are surrounded by "Strays." Strays have the longest aggro range of anything else in Promyvion, and must be cleared before destroying a MR.
To destroy MRs, only use magic, ranged attacks, or pets. MRs will not allow melees to get close enough by using the "Empty Seed" attack, which pushes anyone in range back several meters. Casters, Rangers, along with pets, will be the only ones that have the capability of doing signifigant damage to MRs.
Once a MR is destroyed one of two things can happen. The first being that nothing happens, and the second being that a greenish glowing pool will form where the MR was situated. This greenish pool is called a "Memory Stream" and will transport players up to the next floor. These pools, however, only last a minute and must be used quickly before they dissappear.. Strays, however, will prevent you from teleporting (if you have aggro, you can't teleport). In order for everyone to make it through safely, all Strays must be killed.

Burning Circle Notorious Monster: Progenerator
This mob looks like a Gorger, is slightly higher level than the average gorger, but can use Paralyzega and Silencega. On top of all this, at 50% health, the Progenerator can spawn two "Offspring," annoying little mobs that pose little threat as long as they're directed away from the mages. Melees should directly engage main boss, but have one melee engage the offspring if needed. Mages and Ranger should focus on the boss, and it should go down very quickly. Summoners should Astral Flow when mob is at 65%-75% to bring it down to 35%-45%. If Summoners can do this amount of damage, then the Offspring might not pop (as what happened to our group). Melees should use Hi-Potions as needed. Overall, this isn't a hard fight as long as you can keep the pressure on. This is especially true if all your group uses their two hours. If your not confident in your parties ability to handle this fight, then you might want to use a scroll of Reraise here. Upon completion or death, the party will be kicked out into Konschat Highlands.

Notes and Misc.
Getting Maps in Promyvion
If you're lucky enough to obtain a Beryl Memodrop (its looks like a green drop), then look out for "???" spots that appear on green orbs encased in what looks like a cage-like structure. These "???" spots are on every floor, and pop randomly. They're often surrounded by trees or structures as well as enemies.

Excellent post Cad^^
Very informative

Yes, SMN jobs makes the BC alot easier. But if no SMN is avail, it's a good time to play this BC to train for sky god, by using similar tactics such as circle kiting and adding hate.

I couldn't find anything about Promyvion strategies online ><; So, I did a couple of Promyvion runs, and wrote one up.

Feel free to ask questions or add anything, I hope this guide helps out.

Alright, so I was bored... been playing around with forum options and stuff. For some reason I still find it relatively funny, if not really hokey. ; ;
