FF14 Release Information

I'll put up a "This is It!" server thread probably the week of 9/22. I won't be peculiar on which one we go to, well, since we got like a billion dudes already in our group

Open Beta starts August 31 10PM EST. Client available via File Planet already. Can't do anything with it til Aug 31 though.

Another tidbit, when you create your character in open beta, you can save the character template. This will save the character look and name. That way when you start in retail, if you start in the same retail server as you did in OB, you can just load your character template.

Also, I've heard that the list of servers will be the same list available upon retail.

I've got my new PCs in but won't be booting them up until next week (when the computer desk is installed). So I'll probably just install the OB on my laptop and maybe just fool with character creation a little bit. Probably won't do too much else in OB.

By the way, found a resource for the known skills per each job.

First thing to note is that huge list of classes! I wonder if that's what SE plans on having eventually. That's a TON of classes! Sentinel and Shepherd sound interesting.


I've found some interesting things for my Conj healer in Glad, Lancer, Archer, and Tham. Glad, Lancer, Arch have some defensive or hate reduction skills that could be useful. Tham has spikes, MP absorb, slow.

This is just shit in the dats. Yea classes are kind of a big thing, but in 11 se had shit in there for years and years and some never even got implemented.

I think Gredania (sp?) is going to be crazy crowded. Since the trailer, tons of ppl are mentioning starting there. Limsa was the only place avaialble in closed beta, so all the original beta ppl will probably be sick of it and start elsewhere. Ul'dah reminds me of Bastok. Since I will be doing goldsmithing and mining im thinking of starting there. Although I'm sure once Kara sees the nice looking forest I may be forced over to Gredania lol.

Two mind sets I think from the beta testers. Either fuckin sick of limsa or gonna go there cause they know the area and power to 30+ lol. Ul'dah sounds like a mix of jeuno and bassuck since it seems like it's an econ based city and isn't barbaric lol.

Fuck that call yo, blast some ozzy and see who has soul lol. That'd make my day if I was on a 5hr call to hear some ozzy in the back ground haha.

Didn't build it this time around. Going with 2 dual 23" Samsung LED monitor setups. Each desktop is a Dell Studio XPS 9100. Upgraded the processor to an Intel i7 970 (i think) and the graphics card to ATI Radeon 5870HD. 8GB RAM each.

My wife built her last desktop and we spent more on it than we did on one of these. Just wasn't worth the time and hastle to build it myself.

According to the Beta email I received this morning, it seems the servers used in Beta will be the official ones since names can be carried over. Since this may be the case, I think I'll be choosing one tonight maybe :s

I'll probably just fiddle with character creation on my laptop for OB, that way I don't have to redo all of it for retail. I'll keep tuned to see what server Kira picks before creating though.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, which is scheduled to begin at 19:00 (PDT) on Aug. 31, 2010, will be postponed due to a confirmation of critical bugs. New schedule will be releaseｄ at a later date.

Along with the postponement of FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, the issuing of registration code for FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test will be postponed as well. With the download of client software's installer, it will be suspended at 19:00 (PDT) on Aug. 31, 2010.
