i cant believe Cett hasn't even told me what's up yet. Maybe all that national fame has went to his head and he forgot about all of us peons.

As far as talking on ventrilo/teamspeak, i'll def have to talk over it now. Back in the day i would just scream across the house to Drakkan "Rez me first, i'm going to smoke!!!" Now that i don't smoke i guess it will have to be something different.

This is a factually correct statement. In a few months, Yakum, you can say "Rez me first, I'm going change a diaper!"

Kara and I will defintiely be on vent though.

The retainers buy for you when someone looks at them and sells the stuff to the retainer. The retainer doesn't actively seek the items.

I can definitely see myself with gimped gear for a long time if i have to search through 1000000 bazaars and on top of it wonder if those shoes are really worth 10,000gil. Until a search function is up.

Without a search function and the need for repairs i think we will basically need to have an LS run economy. Definitely should put all our retainers next to each other and afk with bazaars together outside of retainer instances. We know we can trust ls mates and at the same time set up an area people outside ls will know to buy goods. Maybe we should come up with a Retainer naming scheme?

On another topic: How does everyone feel with MP management so far?

I'm not too happy as I generally enjoy mage classes more than melee, but maybe it will be a different story at higher lvls. Frankly i prefer ffxi slow resting regen to the current.

Ah, I didn't know that's how retainers actually bought stuff..that's pretty terrible lol. I honestly feel that SE will be forced to make a search function to these or provide an AH.

On the MP topic. So far it isn't much of any issue for me. Spirit dart..while boring as fk.. is pretty strong. It is on par with melee atks for the most part while still having spells. At 10 you get a nice TP move that gets small mp returns. I only really use mp to cure to keep going. I haven't XP partied, but i've done leves in parties. MP wasn't an issue even though I was spamming spells most of the duration of the leve..when I was getting owned cause cure hate is huge. And how it regens at the end of the leve makes it not so bad.

But looking deeper into the game.. I see that MP management will need to be approached differently. In 11 MP management meant using proper spells at the right time. Not cure bombing and over curing all the time. These will be even more important in 14. In 11 we also had party management set ups with bards and rdms and cors etc. This style of management will need to be geared less to party set up and more to ability selection. I feel that non essential melees aka DPS will need to also equip some form of HP regen abilities. They won't be able to go balls to the wall like in 11. They'll need the blood baths and 2nd winds to just optimally do DPS, since you do 0 DPS if you're dead. Living or dying as a DPS will not be as easily pinned on the healers anymore I feel.

One thing that will most likely come into play in 14 is consumables. 11... using pro ethers was a joke. Consumables weren't a viable way to keep MP up. MP was almost purely pt set up and skill..barring the cure bombing times where you have no choice. If you played aion, pots were a must. It was like having food for melees in 11. It was just what you had to do. I have a feeling ethers will play a part in keeping MP up during end game situations. I also hope that multiple refresh type gears will be around and stack.

So all in all.. I don't think it's really a bad system, just a different one that we'll have to adapt to.

I'd really like the idea of using pots. Really makes me feel like its a final fantasy rpg. I remember when i first started ffxi i was confused by the high cost of pots and the low return. So maybe that is what they are bringing back. Hopefully it is as manageable as food was in ffxi in terms of gil.

Me too. I think they know 11's pots failed hard. Non stackable and stupid returns compared to investment. As far as stacking items I think they'll be pretty high. Hell crystals stack to 999 lol.. Though that's the only item i've seen stack above 100. HOpe pots will stack to 99 and not 12 to make them more easily used.

Though...I haven't actually seen a potion yet lol XD. And I did test juices and they don't give mp regen, at least not the orange juice

I definitely think we are going to have to depend on an LS economy at least for the first few months. What crafts/gathering will people be working on?

I plan on doing Goldsmithing/Mining/Blacksmithing.

I can see alchemy being very beneficial.

Just from idle chatter seems we have a lot of interest in GS, BS, and AS(armor). I'll probably poke around weaving and alchemy...maybe cooking too since i'm a huge craft whore. Really it'll depend on how many crafts I can reasonably support.

I like mining and harvesting so I'll do both. I kept failing at fishing no matter what I did in the last beta. As for crafting I'll be GS, BS or AS since mining supports them. Then maybe cooking, weaving or alchemy from harvest and random drops, sell logs and branches to any carpenters in ls. But I hate how cooking always has 120832489 ingredients per synth. I also like the crafting system except for the 'wait' command. Each synth takes a long time as is and sometimes you need to delay the synth by 5x to 10x more time just to complete it, to then not get any skill points anyway ><. I also hope they get rid of the bazillions crafting menus(is it still this way in OB? havent tried it).

If this is close to the final release in terms of menu lag etc i guess i need to cough up $200 for a new vid card T T.

don't think menu lag is related to card and it is still there. Not much different from CB.
